IKARIA
by Josefine Skomars
The Greek island of Ikaria has become known for its population of healthy and happy centenarians. I spent time in the remote mountains together with my friends – London based photographer Jesse Laitinen and stylist Marianthi Hatzikidi and Athens-based artist Christoffer Danielsson – becoming familiar with the everyday life of islanders of every age. While a lot of studies have been done, our days on Ikaria seem to suggest the secret to joyous longevity is simply to spend time together –drinking, eating, dancing and working.
