Alongside ‘Max Richter 01’, a new perfume by Comme des Garçons Parfums, comes a special little publication called The Hinterland of the Senses. It is an insight over 96 pages of how this perfume came about, the ingredients in it and inspirations behind it. The composer Max Richter who, with Comme des Garçons Parfums, has created this scent, discusses the ideas behind its creation while his partner the artist Yulia Mahr gives an insight into her work and the image by her that is featured on the packaging. Max and Yulia have made a selection of books, records, artworks and people that inspire their work. Photographs of their studio and still lifes of elements within it are taken by photographer Romain Guittet. There is a special contribution from Christian Astuguevieille, Creative Director of Comme des Garçons Parfums. It is published by Luncheon and will be available with the perfume at Dover Street Market as well as being stocked separately by a few independent book and magazine shops.

 In a city where decision-makers prioritise big corporations over culture and history, the streets of London’s Soho have been overtaken by characterless office buildings, chain restaurants and overpriced coffee places. But through little doorways and down a few stairs you can still find the irreverent spirit of good old Soho. At the Greek Street establishment Trisha’s, there are cheap drinks waiting along with a community of colourful regulars full of stories and friendly mischief, providing respite from the grey life outside.

	IKARIAby Josefine SkomarsThe Greek island of Ikaria has become known for its population of healthy and happy centenarians. I spent time in the remote mountains together with my friends – London based photographer Jesse Laitinen and stylist Marianthi Hatzikidi and Athens-based artist Christoffer Danielsson – becoming familiar with the everyday life of islanders of every age. While a lot of studies have been done, our days on Ikaria seem to suggest the secret to joyous longevity is simply to spend time together –drinking, eating, dancing and working.
